Phaltu / Pakau / Poor Poem :D

promoting myself from my self-anointed position of PJ king to PP king, i shall start writing Phaltu Poems hitherto... :D

inspired by my shishya's comment on the last phaltu poem of mine...
i started a wierd and exciting new poem line...

for the last two days i was down with fever...
my friend's charity extended to donating a kidney and a liver!!

i searched for a good medication in every corner, cranny and nook...
cafe world is my new addiction on facebook!!

i went to mocha today evening...
the newest search engine by Microsoft is Bing!!

there i troubled a friend by talking in a monotonous tone...
believe me people....don't buy the iPhone!!!

from tomorrow starts another work week...
the Hyundai i20 is classy and sleek!!

let's hope i come out of this hectic week alive...
every year, around 400 pounds of honey are made in a bee hive!!!

...iPhone...to be or not to be...

Let's start from the very beginning....

i was introduced to the concept of Apple around the beginning of this decade...yes, i did not know Mac et all...

i had seen an apple store somewhere near Pune Station...and was totally impressed with the glam look...the beautiful products....and was wondering....what makes them special??

10 years down, after endless reviews being read, technical magazines surveyed, all online crap read....and i m still asking the same question. :-|

i mean....wtf is wrong with so many people?????? :O

and sadly, one of my close friends is such a person....he's what i like to call an "apple-shaker"....no, he doesn't groove to apple's iTunes (R).....rather, apple makes him shake...and break....

yeah break....cuz d poor guy is So torn right now, that i simply can't express enough sympathy....and simply cannot fathom what it would take to empathize with him... ;)

well, it all started with d iPhone....a phone, multimedia device, and an ipod, all together!! woo-hoo!

suck my grandma's dog's @$$ idiots. :-|

this, when we already had awesome products in the market...Sony Ericsson were already hitting it big time with their walkman phones, and nokia (the mass seller in India), was almost warming up to consumer needs, and believe it or not, changing according to it!!

so what made the iPhone a game-changer then? the touch screen.

and of course, in my personal opinion, touch screens are a bag o dino crap. i mean...nothin does it like physical keys....i prefer something like this >>

cuz...well...that's what i can afford for now :P

anyway, back to the topic on hand...

then came other touch screen phones, loads of music phones, and of course, the mobile phone camera wars...what, with some companies even going to the extent of 12 mp cameras...i mean....really? :O

but recently, when the iPhone finally, officially came to India, it came at a time, when the iPhone 3gs was already launched in the Americas...which reminds me of a funny incident...

we were at a party, where one of my friends introduced her amriki fiance-to-be to us...and suddenly the lights went off...i promptly took out my phone, and switched on the torch at the back...and d amriki dude was like....which phone is that? we dont get such phones in d US...only d stupid iPhones are good enough...!!

and i was lol'ing...and roflmao'ing....of course, all in my mind... :P

anyway, so there...i got evidence from an iPhone user, that they are only using them for lack of better options...

but i m sure this guy was totally misinformed....and ignorant....cuz there ARE a ZILLION other options!!!

oh yeah!!!

since the beginning, Google has impressed me...and always given us more and more innovations...(although i wouldn't say that about Google Maps ...cuz according to it, u are required to swim across the atlantic for going to Paris from the US East Coast :P )

but believe me, the Android system is.....ah...i won't go into that...that will be a separate post...right now we are on apple-shakin' ;)

so, yeah...once the iPhone 3gs DID come to India, within a month, Mr.Jobbs decided to launch iPhone 4. :-|

and now my friend is again caught in the age long debate....to buy or not to buy.. :-|

well,i'd say, go out, buy the latest android phone, cuz as it is, android phones are providing better facilities, ugrades, and with the given variety of manufacturers using this platform, we are sure, you will find the one that suits you...

but still some fools will line up for the iPhone...

and the question comes back to me....what makes the phones special??

and i conclude...the people who buy them are special...they need our love and support...and care...

cuz u gotta be really demented to buy an apple product people!!!

DON'T BUY iPHONES...they suck!

now that that's outta my system...i shall go and buy a nice new android....or at least ogle at one... ;)

 Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time

                                                     -a Review

at the offset, let me say, Jake Gyllenhaal - Bravo!!

Gemma Arterton has certainly come of age...a noticeable improvement over Clash of the Titans, where even the role wasn't giving her justice....anyhow....

brilliant performance by all the actors...brilliant FX...wonderful sound tracks, that transport you to the appropriate point of time in history...and of course, grandeur above par...as expected from Shri Jerry Bruckheimer...!! ;)

the story is nothing new, as we all know it from the games et al...although there are a few elements of "Warrior Within" and "Two Thrones" inculcated in this story...but yes, no major screenplay surprises there..

but let me tell you, no matter what you go in expecting, it blows your mind harder....wrecks your nerves wilder...and sets your heart beat thumping that one notch higher, with the brilliant FX and finishing....


a must see, for any direction and photography aficionado...

and finally, we turn to the highlights >>


1. the first war, where Dastan climbs up a fortress wall, with a battering ram serving like a sort of pole vault, followed by a soldier driving arrows into exact spots where Dastan's hands go, acting like supports...damn, i simply CANNOT describe it!! this has to be seen to be believed...

2. all the free runs by Dastan....outdo any free runs hitherto witnessed....but somehow seemed animated at some points...but i am not complaining!! :P

3. Gemma Arterton's entry was flawed...to the extent that i was about to write her off...when she comes back with such amazing acting, that i was amazed...and somewhat dumbfounded (that might be partly because of the minimal clothing too :P )

4. Nizam, played by Ben Kingsley....this guy, no matter which role he plays, brings such finesse, as can never be brought by anyone else to the table....wonderful actor....

5. Afro-speaking white pirate / "free trade aficionado"...Sheik Amar (played by Alfred Molina)

this guy deserves a completely separate paragraph.... :D

man, this character is SO funny!!!!

e.g.  dialog :

"your brothers have kept such a high reward on your head, that i could have killed my momma for that!!....*afro slave gives wierd look to the Sheik*....What? You Don't know what she was like!!"


and plus, he says the best dialogs evar!!!

must see movie, even if just for his dialogues..!! :P

i wont divulge further for fear of spoiling your fun ;)


all in all, i would give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars....!!!

this was one experience that was worth everything...

... Kites Review ...

well, we went in with huge expectations , what with the international release having so much hype...and the big advertisement expenditures....


but then i am only at fault...seeing the huge advertising, i should've known it will be a flop :P

the cinematography is good....camera work is also good...barbara mori looks ravishing....kangana ranaut, after getting out of the size zero obsession , also looks pretty hot....the locations are brilliant...

so where did it go wrong, u ask?

the story.

predictable is an understatement...

i mean, for one, this is the gazillionth movie i have seen, where they have used the "mount-the-car-carrier-truck-and-throw-cars-at-chasing-cops" plot....i mean....really? :O

and the story is damn damn...DAMN predictable!!! :-|

the only saving grace, if that can be enough, is the chemistry between hrithik and barbara....especially the scene where they make hand-shadow-animals-thingies.....

nice cars are also used...but then...haven't they been used in all recent movies? why not see K3G then? :P

but one thing cannot be denied....awesome music!!

plus, the first song "fire"...the "dance fight", something akin step-up....was brilliantly choreographed...and hrithik has danced exceptionally well....(though i doubt it being him, in the upside-down-head-spin)



so, on the whole, i will give it a 3 out of 5 score....


and while we are talkin about kites, here are some really awesome ones i found....

well, this is a DO NOT DARE TO MISS movie for action fans....and gadget geeks....and ppl who like to see scantily clad "attractive" female species......errr....BOYS...??!! :D

scenes i loved -

1.i've successfully privatised world peace!!

2. hell-raiser scene @ f1 race.....and d comic edge to it, thanks to Robert Downey Jr.....and of curs the character that is Tony Stark...and a grand entry by whiplash..played by Mickey Rourke...man, this guy is awesome....loved his persona....dunno why, but found it damn attractive!! (maybe it was d tattoos....and NO, i m not turning gay :-| )

3. scene where hammer industries' "super weapon" goes....floop....P*WND!! :P

4.Drunken antics by tony stark, while wearing the suit....i can has the suit for a night? please.....pretty please? :P

5.new element discovery...gotta admit....a triangle looks much better placed than the round energy source...good thinking there scriptwriters... ;)

6. Scarlet Johansson's entry....*drool*....*bucket full a drool*.... :P


7. court scene where Tony through his ultra-cool see-through transparent phone, hacks d projector, and starts screwing Hammer Industries' image.....the phone looks somewhat like this >>

but me hates as to why they had to replace Terrence Howard with Don Cheadle for "Rhodey"s character....for a minute i was like...who's this guy? :O

and yes, as many have already said, lack of chemistry makes d romantic side of the film fizzle out completely...


but i would recommend this movie if >>

1.You're a guy.

2.u like sci-fi action flicks.

3.u like awesomestest gadgets etc...

4.you're a guy wit a beer belly, scratching ur bald head sitting at home on a saturday evening, wondering what to do after having ur n'th beer of d weekend...might help wit d pot belly too, me thinks....

all in all, i'd give d movie a 4.5 stars out of 5....

that's how one of my friends' relationship status reads....it's complicated....

made me think....when did all these grey areas come into being???

when did people stop being good / bad, and become - he's smart but dorky(is there a diff.really?) , that girl is hot, but stupid... that uncle is boring, but rich.... etc etc

when did we stop being "right-winged" and "left-winged" to communists...democrats....and d best and latest (latest cuz i got to know it 2 days back) british concept - liberal democrats....i mean.. wtf!! cant it just be democrats? or liberals (whatever that means)...

and then there are those who make simple things complicated...!!!

 don't ask which is which though :P




and in the same vein, happiness and sadness have also become so complicated!!!


and so is success...

and then add to it the stupid things called social networking sites...to just add onto the performance and peer pressures...as if trying to prove your virility by cheap antics and stunts wasn't enough, we got SNS :-|

for e.g : wat is the time required by a project to be completed if each of the 7 activities can be run with, but not concurrently with, each other if each activity takes 4 minutes 34 seconds and the resultant following activity is not having the initial activity as a pre-requisite.....blah blah blah blah (that's all i can read, after 2 mins., really)




i have, on numerous occasions, inadvertently ended up ordering food like this >>
