want an SLR..can't afford one yet...so here is my web-revenge...a.k.a webenge!

so,I have been longing for quite some time for an SLR...but unable to curb my binge-spending on weekends....so here,s d closest I can get to it...pics of semi and slr,s on d phone cam...which also,turns out,is pretty neat! ;)

Ah Yes...finally a post about the new job...

and let me start with a few adjectives...

wonderful...interesting....fun...and more fun..!!! ;)

Maersk Global Service Centres is a wonderful place to work in...

key highlights being -
- awesome boss *wink*
- kewl team members, who literally hold on to each word i say as their TL... *wink wink*
- ummm...."interesting" co-workers....*triple wink* :D


but on a more serious note, it is really a test of my patience....due to some "characters"...

1.an aunty jee, who always wants to talk to me about the "transport problems", at the slightest hint of me having free time or looking in her direction. :-|

2.a team member who can rant on about how she is "over-burdened, and there is no backup for my tasks, and there is simply too much work....and there is no one who can help with my tasks...and the workload is sreally a bit too un-manageable... " (note the repetition of the same issue in diff.manners....for my vocabulary-challenged readers... :P

3. very pesky little problems coming to me, which i tried with all the patience granted by god to me, to solve, in the initial days, but now am simply trying to ignore people who are known to come up with such ones...


enough about my job now, right?

so here, let me awe you with some stats about the company... ;) :D

here is their biggest ship....how big? ummm...try 6 football fields....or about the size of 2 small US aircraft carriers...ummm...big enough to carry a boeing inside it....and a 747-500 mind you.... ;)

and yes, a crew of 13. welcome to unrealistic levels of automation.. :)

notice the building-y thing in the middle? it's 15 stories high.

go figure the rest of the physics of this ginormous mammoth!! ;)

and well, they have only about 550 ships...and they are ONLY the biggest shipping company on the blue planet....a.k.a. earth....and their annual budget equals that of umm....say.....9 african countries....or about 2 american ones.... ;)

of course, these are estimates....

this dutch company is so diversified and wide, that it is not possible to put it into concrete figures...or estimates too.... :)

well, i hope i get paid something like 1% of their turnover.....maybe i will be satisfied then.....

just MAYBE..... :P

FINALLY got d sony ericsson xperia x10 mini pro!! (whew kitna bada naam hain!:P )

was feeling a bit bad bout it not having radio...and hence had convinced myself that I can give that up...but well,trust SE to take care of everything.... :D

d radio is brilliantly awesome too :D

Saw Rajniti finally, on Saturday night with two other ppl who had been spared the torture yet, and were eager to undergo some penance for their sins...

here are a few observations in the movie -

1. Either the guys were super-fertile...or the gals were from Species (remember? - "i can feel life") - do it one time, and they're preggy. :-|

2. If so many lives were taken in each election, i vouch for more elections...monthly elections even....population control method :D

3. All d guys were trying to kiss Ranbir Kapoor...seriously....the display of macho lowe was too much....but only his Dad managed to do so, @ d Airport...and then died. :-|

4. Nana Patekar must've paid a helluva amount in the production....he's not holding any post...he's simply an advisor...still everywhere, he is seen sitting on a chair higher than everyone else....wtf was he doing?? :P

5. Ajay Devgan was having either the loosies or piles while shooting for his first kabaddi scene....i mean...he was walking WIERDLY. and walking...not running or jumping.... :O u have to see it to understand what i m saying... :P

6. Ranbir Kapoor has consistently lost weight through the movie... :O

7. Kat's character is d stupidest in the movie..(mind you, also d hottest nevertheless)...and i simply can't fathom being a football, jo kick maare, us direction me chali gayi...way to go, for a Chief Minister i'd say :-|

8. WHY did they kill d hot firang chick? :( dayyam :(

9. When the car blasts apart, killing Arjun Rampal and Sarah Thompson, the whole bloody Merc is in chars, but the bodies of Arjun and Sarah are intact....save for a few burn marks... :O

10. Arjun Rampal can ACT. kudos to his performance.... :)

well, that and a few other things...but this is enough for now...

what happens when the moon changes a phase?
it might be a full moon or new moon..

so,today's topic is a bit eerie...and interesting....lunacy...
came to me, cuz today is a full moon...and was witness to a really wierd incident...

so,  what exactly is lunacy?

the state where the mind is affected by the cycles of the moon...or simply people that are affected by the moon.

some instances of lunacy can be seen on the roads...yes, Road Rage increases during these phases...people who normally drive carefully, will start driving like maniacs in off road rallies (though one could argue that Indian roads ARE somewhat like participating in a cross-country, given their condition :P )
also, there will be people who get splitting , inexplicable headaches during full / new moon..

so, what is this phenomena actually?

some say that it is a psychological thing, where we have been told for years that the lunar cycles have an effect on humans..and their behaviour...and hence we sub-consciously, tend to make the same mistakes...tend to act wierdly...or simply conk off in some extreme cases.... ;)
i mean, i have really seen people act wierdly...and that's not just a few scattered incidents...but consistently...

i wasn't a beleiver in this , until my grandpa, a renowned homeopathic Doctor, gave me some medicines to be taken "just before you sleep, for three days after the full moon"
now, before u jump to conclusions, the medicines were not given as a cure for my "pj"s or any of d idioticities i keep indulging in... ;) :P

i was intrigued, and asked for an explanation...
according to him, just like the gravitational pull of the moon causes tides, apparently our "lighter" bodies during a full moon, tend to respond to medication faster and better during the full moon...

but hey, isn't it just the reflection of sun rays from the moon surface that causes the lunar phases?

well, the "white light " emanating from the lunar surface, has some sort of healing effect on human bodies....just like in some cases of vitamin deficiencies, people are told to soak in the early morning sun... ( can't remember which vitamin for the life of me :P )
and i was like...."hmmmmm"...for over an hour... :P

and then , there are those who don't beleive in this "crap"...

but then , i'd say...believe people....BELIEVE!

cuz...after all...aren't a lot of our lives based on faith?

~ dell inspiron mini 10 ~

having ordered d latesht dell net-book...i am again confronted by red tapism and procedural anomalies :(

after a long bout of deliberations with dad, and discussions with mom, i finally convinced them that it was high time i replaced the 8 year old, aged, desktop and laptop combo....alongwith the wires attached to the set that gives mom nightmares.... literally....followed by my own myriad investigations and researches....(the former took all of 4 minutes, 30 seconds.....the latter though, took me at least 3 weeks!!)...i decided upon the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 1012 net-book.

now, while my dear friend in d US was trying to convince me not to spend more than 15k on a net-book, as it -

1.does not have a disk drive ; 

2. has limited functionality ; 

3. has a very small and low-res screen ; 

4. etc etc :P

i had my own answers....

1.disk drive? who uses those on laptops these days? i know i don't. :P

2. limited functionality - welcome to 2 gig RAM, 1.8 Mhz processor, 320 gig HD. toss in a graphics processor, HD screen and HDMI. doubts anyone?

3. actually i answered that in no.2 already...but wat d heck....HD screen...1366 x 768 DPI....again....any questions? :P

and then, i made the biggest mistake of my life...(ok of the year....month....err...week?? seriously....difficult to keep track of mistakes :P )... here's what happened - 

me : dad, m going to order the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 1012 net-book.

dad : are you sure it's the right one? have you looked through the market? how much is it going to cost? is Dell a reliable company? how many years do you forecast this new computer will last? .... O.o.....o.O....X(...:-SS...:-o etc etc.

me : yes to all the above dad! *bright beaming face trying to hide all d anger+irritation* (thinking that i should suggest dad join crime investigation....wait...would that get my net book faster to me? :P )

dad : ok fine. i will ask our dealer and see if it's available.

me : errr...actually , i got enough savings...i wanna buy it on my own.

dad : your younger generation doesnt know the value of savings....how much money do you have? *calls up investment advisor* haan...Mr.Investment Advisor....we have to invest *to me - kitne paise hai?* yeah....some 20 thousand in XYZ investments...

me : dino crap. t-rex crap even. (in my mind of course)

dad : yes, now that that's settled, i will tell our supplier to get that comp.

damn! damn! damn!

Why did i not just go and buy the net-book? :(

WHY! WHY! oh WHY!! :(

after 2 weeks of "discussions" with his supplier that would give us a "discount" on the purchase....

dad :  we're getting the net-book at Rs. 21780!! ha! and you were getting it for Rs.22300! see how i save!

me : err....dad....does that include delivery charges?

dad : *war dialling supplier* eh! who'll tell me bout d delivery charges? you suppliers are one lot of thieves!! *etc...etc....*

me: *glee full look* so, i should order it online finally?

dad : yes.. yes... go ahead.

me : *trying real hard to not start laughing.... or dancing for that matter...* well....i had told you dad...anyway...i will bear with the delay now....by the way can i order a bluetooth mouse alongwith it?

dad : whatever you feel right.

me : victory!!!! :P

status on dell website - order received ==> manufacturing build complete

ETA - one week from now.

me : @#$@$@#$@%#%^ corporate procedures. if i had had it assembled by my local supplier it would've come in 3 days! oh wait....dad DID suggest that.

birds suddenly get into a frenzied hurry...to clear the branches of their homes...
a young fowl...confused with all the sudden flurry...alone on the streets roams...

crash! boom!! the clouds bring down their weight..
the raindrops dance and splash...in a heavenly gait..

youngsters laugh , dance and enjoy...
the grey haired simply smile...and sigh...

and there, in the midst of all this...

Phaltu / Pakau / Poor Poem :D

promoting myself from my self-anointed position of PJ king to PP king, i shall start writing Phaltu Poems hitherto... :D

inspired by my shishya's comment on the last phaltu poem of mine...
i started a wierd and exciting new poem line...

for the last two days i was down with fever...
my friend's charity extended to donating a kidney and a liver!!

i searched for a good medication in every corner, cranny and nook...
cafe world is my new addiction on facebook!!

i went to mocha today evening...
the newest search engine by Microsoft is Bing!!

there i troubled a friend by talking in a monotonous tone...
believe me people....don't buy the iPhone!!!

from tomorrow starts another work week...
the Hyundai i20 is classy and sleek!!

let's hope i come out of this hectic week alive...
every year, around 400 pounds of honey are made in a bee hive!!!
